Focus of the Forum
Ecosystem services are now included in some industries’ DJSI rankings as well as in the Equator Principles, which guide the project finance decisions of 76 global financial institutions. As a result, both banks and investors are now assessing the impacts and dependencies of business actions on ecosystem services. In addition, more than 16 national and regional governments are addressing ecosystem services in public policy.
In response to these shifts, a growing number of companies are engaging with ecosystem services. Corporate applications cover the spectrum, from integration into accounting, to addition to risk management and impact assessment protocols. For a growing number of corporate players, early findings indicate that an ecosystem services approach offers a more complete picture of companies’ impacts and dependencies on the environment and natural capital.
In this workshop, we will review potential areas of integration with corporate decision-making processes and offer several scenarios for how this issue area may play out in the coming years. Participants will also learn about 黑料正能量’s Ecosystem Services Working Group, which offers a forum for peer learning and provides research insights as the ecosystem services arena continues to evolve.
