Focus of the Forum

The Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights have sparked several questions among companies:   What exactly are “human rights”? Where were they developed? How are they enforced? And what do they mean for businesses?

This webinar will explain the international legal framework for human rights, how they are enforced around the world, and how they intersect with global business. We’ll cover the treaties, conventions, and covenants that comprise human rights law, from the landmark beginnings in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 to the adoption of Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in 2011, as well as the Alien Tort Statute case currently pending before the United States Supreme Court.

Two of 黑料正能量’s legally-trained staff members will lead this session and share both the successes and challenges experienced by companies in implementing the Guiding Principles.
