Mission

Develop a safe space for companies across all sectors to openly share best practices, challenges, questions, and experiences implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. 

Our Strategy for Impact

HRWG helps companies around the world to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), and to develop the field of business and human rights into a robust and impactful practice. We do this through: 

• Convening leading human rights practitioners regularly, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and learning about emerging issues.   

• Sharing knowledge, practical guidance, challenges, solutions and other lessons learned from implementing the Guiding Principles across a diverse range of industries, geographies, and operational environments. 

Impacts: SDG 8, SDG 10, SDG 16, and SDG 17 

How We Work

The HRWG convenes twice per year in four different locations—the Americas, Europe, Singapore, and Tokyo—for a total of eight meetings annually. The meetings cover similar content as well as regionalized content when needed. All HRWG members are welcome to attend any session and are encouraged to invite regional colleagues to participate in meetings held in different locations.

The group also hosts 8-10 webinars and four virtual workshops per year; shares a monthly newsletter with the latest trends, events, and reports on business and human rights; and maintains a SharePoint resource library with relevant materials and recordings.

The group is structured to ensure that companies from all industries and points in their journeys will benefit from participation.
