Giulio brings over 14 years of expertise in advancing corporate climate action.

He leads 黑料正能量’s climate team, oversees the team strategy, and works with 黑料正能量 members across consulting, collaborative initiatives, and grants implementation.

Currently, Giulio oversees 黑料正能量’s work on beyond growth to reconcile business models with planetary boundaries, and more generally works with 黑料正能量 members on climate transition planning and net-zero value chains.

Since joining 黑料正能量 in 2018, Giulio’s work has focused on Scope 3 implementation through supplier engagement, and commodities decarbonization strategies, both through consulting and support developments open-source guidance such as 1.5°C Supplier Engagement Guide, Transform to Net Zero and Climate Fit.

Giulio also worked on several projects helping companies set Science-Based Targets, implement TCFD recommendations, and conduct climate scenario analysis. He supported the development of SBTi Net Zero standard as a member of the Expert Advisory Group.

Prior to joining 黑料正能量, Giulio spent 7 years with EcoAct between France and Kenya, focusing on climate advisory work on GHG mitigation, target setting and climate strategies, climate risk assessments and carbon offset project development.

Giulio holds a MS in 黑料正能量 from HEC Paris School of Management. He also holds a double degree MS in Management and Industrial Engineering and a double degree BS in Technology and International Business from Politecnico di Torino and UIC Barcelona.

Julie serves as Manager of 黑料正能量’s Climate team, where she brings over 10 years of experience in corporate sustainability and climate action and supports 黑料正能量 members with their climate strategies.

After joining 黑料正能量 in 2021, Julie worked on multiple projects helping companies implementing TCFD recommendations, conducting climate scenario analysis (for the tech, financial and insurance industry), accelerating Net Zero transition, implementing just transition approaches (extractive industry) and scope 3 strategies (consumer goods sector). Since 2023, Julie manages 黑料正能量 grant-funded work dedicated to Climate Transition Plans.

Julie is also co-developing 黑料正能量’s work on alternative business models addressing the tension between business growth and sustainability targets.

Prior to joining 黑料正能量, Julie worked in Mazars’s sustainability services and risk practice, where she audited and advised companies on their ESG data and internal audit, control and risk approaches. During her time within Mazars, Julie also spent six months at the Mexico City office.

Julie holds a master’s degree in business from Kedge Business School and spent one semester at the University of Nottingham and another one at the University of Technology of Sydney. She speaks French, English, and Spanish.

Kaia works with 黑料正能量 member companies across industries on sustainability management, with a focus on climate change, supply chain sustainability, and consumer sectors.

Prior to joining 黑料正能量, Kaia supported the development of the innovation and sustainability department in an alternative protein start-up, where she focused on developing a holistic sustainability roadmap and strategy and performing a baseline assessment to identify opportunities of improvement in sustainability performance. She started her career in a boutique sustainability consultancy firm focusing on plastic waste advisory and has experience working with private companies and governmental agencies, such as the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in Qatar, to promote the management of plastic waste in their operations and supply chain.

Kaia holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Earth Systems Science, specializing in ecology, from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Sandrine supports 黑料正能量 member companies across industries and areas of expertise, with a focus on supply chain sustainability and sustainability management.

Prior to joining 黑料正能量, Sandrine worked as Program Manager at Makesense in the Philippines, where she designed and coordinated various initiatives to promote social and environmental action across the country. There, she led the Plastic Smart Cities program in partnership with WWF, where she supported and coached social entrepreneurs in creating viable solutions to eradicate plastic pollution. She has also intervened as an external consultant on sustainability-linked projects for companies in the logistics, agricultural, and social sectors.

Sandrine holds a BCom in Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Social Business Strategy from McGill University and a MSc in 黑料正能量 and Social Innovation from HEC Paris. She speaks French, English, Spanish and Arabic.

After a decade of setting environmental commitments, the company's focus has shifted to delivery.

This implementation phase is proving challenging for many. Despite some progress, many companies find they are progressing at a slower pace than expected. While the lack of a supporting policy environment certainly contributes to these challenges, in many cases, they are also a result of business objectives that remain at odds with sustainability targets.

This foundational working paper builds on 黑料正能量’s Beyond Growth event series, and is the first in 黑料正能量’s ongoing contribution to critical business discussions to address this tension. It explores:

The fundamental issues and barriers creating this tension
How alternative economic models are an underexplored solution
How can business address the tension between growth and sustainability targets, including through business model transformation
